Yeah, it is a direct conversion of a PC type from Deadlands RPG. I initially tht it odd too - the combo of gambler and magic. Kinda need the Deadlands Player's guide to 'get' the concept. I just have powers here :) Thanks for FB though. Nice to get some.

Re: Type - Weird Scientist by ConnorsConnors, 03 Oct 2016 23:47

What do people think of these guys? I hope I captured the 'feel' of their contraptions.

I did not go with adding an 'insanity/dementia' each tier. Figured that can come out in RP and selection of Descriptor might help. Also, no such rules in Cypher System. Though I could easily do so.

Re: Type - Weird Scientist by ConnorsConnors, 18 Aug 2016 06:17

Another Type linked from the Concepts (Types & Foci) Page - Cypher System.

I felt the mad scientists were unique enough for a type, esp in the way they 'use' their powers etc.

Here is direct link: Weird Scientist.

Would love to know thoughts etc. Going to playtest this one at school. :)

So, my first go at creating a Type to suit the setting.

Have a look: Huckster (It is actually linked from the Concepts Page ;))

Any comments welcome. :)

Wow. Just read this again. This campaign was 'left hanging', so I am here to officially state it is over. 2 years on… and nothing. Another module started and wasted (not to mention the hours put in, esp to do those Weird Scientist NPCs).

Anyway….

Re: Adventure Ideas by ConnorsConnors, 27 Jun 2014 12:48

Well, more for Jacob's sake, but I am sorry to say that looks like another DL campaign that if officially dead.

No other player responded at all to the last few nights we were meant to play and no one has shown an iota of interest since.

So, I am no longer spending time prepping for this game. There goes another bunch of hours (and $) wasted just like the first campaign. Even worse - the adventures purchased and used will not likely be able to be used again :(

I will try and get a game going for Angus's sake again at some stage (given I quit his other game to do this campaign). Jacob, given you were ready most weeks (and at least got back to me), you would be more than welcome to come along, but my guess is you probably aren't interested unless others show…so it looks like I just won't be playing much anymore :(

Game Over....Again by ConnorsConnors, 04 May 2014 08:31

I would like to add the Gritty rules option from SWD to Deadlands games.

Basically, with every wound you roll on the crit chart and accept the effects until the wound is healed. It is a more realistic style of play when most damage comes from guns. Might sound hard to get used to, but when you come from DnD where there effectively are no wounds (nothing happens until 0 hp) it might take some adjusting.

But I would like to aim for a more gritty style of play in most games - but especially one with guns.

What do the players think? (Are there any players even looking at the site(s))?

Thanks so much for posting this! Glad to be up to speed. :)

Re: Adventure Log by Jacob HarrisonJacob Harrison, 05 Dec 2013 12:52

Okay, I have finally got around to doing this.

it would be appreciated if players kept up to date with it. Players are also very welcome to add to the log. Just remember to write in the 'past tense' so it sounds consistent.

Also, don't forget, Places and NPCs are not described in the Adventure Log - you go to the Locations and NPCs page for detailed descriptions.

I will add some pics and also more info to Seattle page later. I just wanted to get the basic story down. Please feel free to add (or post here) if I have missed something that should be included.

Adventure Log by ConnorsConnors, 04 Dec 2013 07:55

Some PCs gained an Advance last session. It would be great if you could all sort this out BEFORE next game. You don't have to modify PC Sheets - I will do that, but you should know what you want to take/improve. There is actually a section for this on the PC Page so you can do so ahead of time and if you are not here we know what to take.

If interested in Edges, I have now posted a new version of the Edges & Hindrances doc, SW-SIF version under Files on the Player's Stuff Page back at Connors Campaigns. I suggest everyone look through this doc and list any Edges you want on the PC Page here.

I don't want to have to repeat all this stuff here all the time (not that anyone seems to be looking). It would be great if people could keep up with things here and at CC.

Advances by ConnorsConnors, 03 Dec 2013 08:18

I decided to go through your PCs and do a list myself. I have been waiting for a long time for other info here and it is not forthcoming, so I will have a go at this, but PLEASE feel free to add others, ESPECIALLY as they come up in game. Even durnig a session, if you feel a new lead should be put down as a quest/mission, please say so. I can assign an XP value to it and put if front and centre on the GM Screen then. I believe this helped with our last campaign, esp with big gaps b/w games and times when PCs wonder where to go next.

Current Quests

1. Find proof that Bigfoot does or does NOT exist. (3XP). This may involve 1 XP discoveries along the way, but there is a 3XP for end conclusive proof either way.
2. (Mountain Man): Discover what happened b/w the Shoshone and his parents. ie, why the Shoshone killed them. (3XP).
3. (Hank) Apprehend the Sam Bennett outlaws. (3XP).
4. (Charlie). Find an appropriate overland train route from Seattle to ??? (forgot). (3XP).
5. locate and get info about Bigfoot from Moonshine Gus. (Lives on "The Haystack" near Mount Si). (1XP)
6. Discover what happened to the 2 missing ranch hands from Double-S Ranch (Bill Parker & Junebug McFee) (2XP)

Current Quests by ConnorsConnors, 27 Nov 2013 03:42

There is a main Forum on this topic over at our central site.

What this thread is for is for players to add all the quests/missions they wish to achieve/finish.

These are both current 'in game' ones (like the obvious - "Find proof that Bigfoot exists") to those from PC backgrounds.

So I can come up with a comprehensive list and put them on cards on the GM Screen like we did on our 4E campaign, I need you players to list some quest ideas below.

Quests by ConnorsConnors, 27 Nov 2013 03:27

So, has anyone actually looked at the new sheets? (+Insanity etc rules)?

I have printed copies too, but given they are online, I am hoping players have a look at their own character from time to time?

Updated PC Sheets by ConnorsConnors, 26 Nov 2013 22:36

Your sheet has been updated and posted to the Files at the bottom of the PC Page.

As has been mentioned in the Forums, Insanity and Madness tables have been added. I also adjusted the initial table to include Relationships and moved XP to the Advancement Table.

XP and Equipment were also updated.

BTW: I also copied your BG from the PC page and copied that onto new PC Sheet :)
